Amna Ally to be laid to rest on Tuesday

Kaieteur News- Former government minister, Amna Ally will be laid to rest on Tuesday, May 13, her family said Sunday.

According to the release, a night of reflection will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 19:00h at her residence, 78 Brickdam, Georgetown.

On Tuesday, viewing of the body will take place at her residence from 11:00h to 12:30h, followed by another viewing and Janazah at the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) from 13:00h to 13:25h. Janazah (funeral prayer) will be held at CIOG beginning at 13:30h.

The funeral procession will depart CIOG at 13:40h for final interment at De Edward Village, West Coast Berbice. A book of condolence will be opened for signing by members of the public at Ally’s residence, beginning from 12:00h on Monday, May 12, 2025.

The family has expressed sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time and invites all who wish to pay respect to join in honouring Ally’s legacy.

Ally, who served as Minister of Social Protection under the A Partnership for National Unity + the Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) Government, passed away Saturday, at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)

The PCNR, in a statement, Saturday, expressed deep sadness at the passing of its former General Secretary. The party described Ally as a dedicated and former long-standing member of the party, whose unwavering commitment to the ideals of PNCR and her country left an indelible mark on the country’s history.

The PNCR said Ally’s service to her country was multifaceted as she was a committed educator, a valued member of the Young Socialists Movement (YSM), and served in various capacities within the party. Her leadership and dedication extended beyond party activities, as she served as a Member of Parliament and held the position of Minister in the Government under the APNU/AFC administration from 2015 to 2020, the PNCR stated.
