Keith Jordon was an impactful administrator

Dear Editor,

I was saddened to learn about the passing of Keith Jordon. While I did not know him personally, I was privileged to meet him along with other cricketers from Essequibo who participated in the tape ball tournament in 2005, as highlighted by Charwayne Walker’s letter in Kaieteur News dated 2025/05/06 ‘Tapeball cricket pioneer Keith Jordon has died at age 66’.

Time has certainly flown, and while it has been almost 20 years, I can still remember that firm but gracious handshake, accompanied by cautioning words which had an element of intimidation but also refined humour. Mr. Jordon provided that golden opportunity for many of us since it was the first time that we had the chance to play competitive tape ball. My teammates still talk about the historic experience, as I regret there wasn’t a reciprocal visit and a continuation of our relationship, including with Mr. Charwayne Walker, who was instrumental in the preparation and facilitation of the tour.

On behalf of Team 2005 and the cricketing fraternity, I wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the relatives and friends of Mr. Keith Jordon, who will be remembered as a pioneering and impactful leader.
