Kaieteur Sports- Knowledgeable Sports Statistician Charwayne Walker has informed that the Tapeball cricket fraternity in Georgetown and its environs is saddened with the passing of one of its pioneer Keith Jordon.
Jordon passed away at his Tucville Georgetown Residence on the 2nd of May 2025. Jordon was sixty-six years old.
Keith Jordon grew up on North Road South Cummingsburg and was born on the 1st November,1958.
Although his father Norman and his uncle Herby were famous footballers for the then Victoria Football Club, Keith’s love for cricket was undeniable, Walker informs.
He volunteered his residence as a club house when the North Road All Stars Tapeball team was formed in 1993. His dedication in organizing and promoting Tapeball cricket in the early nineties led to teams in Georgetown, East Coast and East Bank forming the Guyana’s Tapeball Cricket Association in 2004 where Keith Jordon was unanimously elected its inaugural chairman with Gladwin Saul as the organizing secretary.
With this dynamic duo at the helm, Tapeball cricket went to the next level.
The second league championship was held in 2004 with Tapeball Mount Everest Tarmac Sports Club was the emerging winner.
The following year 2005, the Keith Jordon led Tapeball Guyana Cricket Association held the inaugural Tapeball tournament with Demerara, led by the late Garfield Morris, defeating Essequibo in two games at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.
After the inter-county clash, the Guyana Tapeball Cricket Association held its annual championship where the tarmac sports club defending its title from Upstarts “disturbing the peace” A team consisting of the likes of Leon Johnson, Steven Jacobs, Cristopher Barnwell, Derwin Christian, Lawrence Farnum, Trevor Henry and Dennis Squires.

After the migration of Gladwin Saul in 2006, the organizing secretary to Scotland, that same year the organization lost its enthusiasm and folded in 2007.

The pioneer teams that evolved under the Keith Jordon led Guyana Cricket Tapeball Cricket Association were Tarmac Sports Club, North Road All Stars, Tulsie Persaud Ltd, Shell Road, Mocha, Agricola, Melanie, Buxton, Pigeon Island, GBTI, NBIC, Precision Woodworking, DESINCO Trading, Eccles and Ogle.
Keith Jordon moved on, but has left a legacy that is being competed for annually that brings all ethnicity together: The One Guyana Tapeball tournament is a testimony that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
He has left to mourn his wife, two children, several grandchildren, relatives and friends. Sleep well father your mission is completed.
