Teen remanded for attempted robbery during protest
Kaieteur News- A 19-year-old construction worker was on Friday remanded to prison, after he attempted to rob a man during last Monday evening’s protest.
Jadon Sim, also known as ‘JJ,’ of Lot 132 Friendship Buxton, East Coast Demerara, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore.

Sim denied the allegation which stated that on April 28, 2025, at Camp and Quamina Streets, Georgetown, he armed himself with a gun and attempted to rob Shurlan Critchlow, also known as ‘Black Boy’.
The prosecution told the court that the teen along with others, used the protest to commit the criminal acts. The prosecution argued that such actions have caused widespread fear affecting flights, business and school operations.
Magistrate Azore remanded Sim until May 21, 2025.
