Kaieteur News- Dem boys seh de road these days is not fuh man, woman or donkey. Is only fuh big SUV, double-cab, trucks and car drivers who feel dem own de whole blasted highway.
Prezzy seh 43% of dem who dead pon de road is motorcyclists. And 73% of dem wasn’t wearing helmet. Right away, police start a campaign. People riding to wuk get stop and dem bike get detained like dem thief a plantain. One man seh he was five minutes from office, now he facing a five thousand dollars fine and a day’s pay short.
But dem boys seh, wait nah! Since when percentage mean who in de wrong? Dem nah seh how de accident happen. Dem nah seh how much percentage de motorcyclists wrong. It could be that de minibus man bruk red light. Or de Prado man watching TikTok while overtaking. Or de truck nah see de motorcyclist wah it hit.
Dem roads get wild, like jungle. Is either yuh got four wheels and no fear, or yuh got two feet and a prayer. Motorcyclists dodging potholes, overtaking taxis, and trying not to become part of de pavement. Pedestrians walking in de bush like dem searching fuh wild cassava, because no sidewalk deh and dem can’t risk dem life pon de road.
Dem boys seh this not a traffic problem, is a madness epidemic. Everybody in a rush. Dem does blow horn before dem start de car. And de bicycle man now like endangered species—if yuh see one, tek a picture fast.
De roads should be for everybody: drivers, riders, and them who walking to catch a bus or go market. But nowadays, is only who got horsepower and bullhorn does survive.
So before yuh tek away de man bike and embarrass he in front de whole block, ask yuhself—who really causing de accidents? Is it de helmet, or de man wid de heavy foot and light brain?
Dem boys seh, fix de system, not just de symptoms.
Talk half. Leff half!
