2025 GCB Men’s U19 inter-county 50-Over tournament…
Kaieteur Sports- Demerara defended a small total in a thriller against Essequibo to win following the opening round of yesterday’s GCB U19 inter-county tournament played at the Imam Bacchus Sports Club Ground, Essequibo.
National youth spinner Golcharran Chulai snapped up an impressive 5-18 to help Essequibo pin Demerara U19 for a low 96 all-out from 24.3 overs.
Romeo Deonarain (18), Sachin Balgobin (14) and Shiloh Adams (14) were the premiere scorers for Demerara.
Rajendra Ramballi (2-19) and Bruce Vincent (1-31) starred in additional roles for the Essequibians, who suffered tremendous blows during a minimal chase.
Only opener In Ronaldo Jeffery (14) and Navindra Sankar () tried to ward off hostile bowling efforts from Demerara.
The duo of fast-bowler Neeran Bani (4-16) and Jayden Dowlin (3-9) ran roughshod over a hapless Essequibo batting attack, restricting them to 73 all out in 37.1 overs.
