Kaieteur News- A 40-year-old man was on Friday placed on $50,000 bail, when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for assaulting his sister.
Lennox Kidram of Lot 25 North Sophia, Georgetown, appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore. The charge alleged that on April 24, 2025, at Lot 29 North Sophia, Georgetown, he assaulted and used threatening behavior towards his sister Pamala Kidram. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
He told the court that he was cutting down a coconut tree and at the same time his sister was passing when a branch fell and hit her. As a result, she went to the station and made a report.
The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the defendant will interfere with his sister since they share the same address.
Magistrate Azore released Lennox on $25,000 bail for each of the two charges totaling 50,000. He then told the magistrate that he does not have the money to pay bail.
“Me ain’t got no money on me, I can’t pay no bail,” the man said.
Magistrate Azore then informed the accused that he will remain in police custody until he is able to post bail.
