EBFA U14 Boys League…
Kaieteur Sports- Providence, Guyana – The East Bank Football Association (EBFA) U14 Boys League delivered another action-packed weekend of youth football on Saturday, April 19, with three scheduled fixtures at the GFF National Training Centre (NTC), Providence. From the opening whistle, the crowd was treated to thrilling individual performances, relentless team play, and a showcase of some of the brightest young talents in the region.
Herstelling Raiders 8 – 0 Kuru Kuru FC
The opening match kicked off at 11:00 AM under overcast skies, with dark rain clouds threatening overhead. But even the weather couldn’t overshadow the brilliance of Herstelling Raiders, who launched a high-pressing, dominant performance against Kuru Kuru FC from the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
It took just two minutes for the floodgates to open. Speedy right winger Samuel Gaspar ignited the Raiders’ onslaught with a thundering right-footed strike that pierced the lower left corner of the net, setting the tone for what would become a one-sided affair. Just 17 minutes later, Raiders’ talisman and current tournament top scorer Wayshawn Forde curled in a stunning left-footed shot from distance to double the lead in the 19th minute.
By the 30th minute, Ralph Reid joined the party, unleashing a rocket into the roof of the net that left the Kuru Kuru keeper stunned. Forde found his second of the day in the 38th, slotting home with composure inside the box.
The second half saw no let-up. Gaspar returned with his second goal in the 44th minute before midfield general Clifton Sampson cut through the defense on a dazzling solo run to add a sixth in the 46th. Just two minutes later, Forde completed his hat trick – his third consecutive hat trick in as many weekends—confirming his lethal form since the league restart.
Sampson closed the scoring in the 50th minute with a smooth finish from the top of the box, bringing the final score to 8-0 in favor of Herstelling Raiders—a commanding victory that sent a message to the rest of the league.
Swan FC 4 – 0 Friendship FC
In the second fixture, Swan FC stamped their authority with a convincing 4-0 victory over Friendship FC. The tempo was set early by Joel Gilkes, who calmly slotted the opener past the keeper in the 6th minute. Shakib Andrews doubled the advantage in the 11th with a sharp finish from close range after sustained pressure.
Kevan Charles added to the tally in the 27th minute, breaking away from the defensive line and finishing with precision. Gilkes, ever the danger man, wrapped up the scoring with his second goal of the day in the 54th minute, capping off an excellent team performance for Swan FC.
Timehri United vs. Agricola FC – Walkover
In the day’s final scheduled match, Timehri United was awarded a walkover victory after Agricola FC failed to show up for the encounter, resulting in all three points going to Timehri by default.
The EBFA U14 Boys League continues to provide a vital platform for young footballers to sharpen their skills, build team spirit, and thrill supporters. With standout talents like Forde, Gaspar, Sampson, and Gilkes lighting up the field, the future of football in the East Bank district looks incredibly bright.
Stay tuned for more updates as the league continues next weekend with more exciting fixtures and rising stars on display.
