… relative says deceased was parting fight
Kaieteur News- A 20-year-old labourer lost his life in the wee hours of Friday morning, after he was stabbed during a heated brawl with multiple persons at Five Corner McKenzie, Linden, Region Ten.
Police said the incident occurred at about 00:05 hrs. According to the report, Kenroy Bradford, called ‘Kelly,’ who resided at Lot 314 Block 22 Wismar, Linden, was consuming alcohol in the company of brothers Andrew and Anthony Jacobs at Blazing Shop, located at Five Corner, McKenzie.
While consuming alcohol, Anthony reportedly went over to a 29-year-old female bartender, who was in the company of another man, Cyrus Jacobis, and four other persons.
It is reported that Jacobis became enraged and shoved Anthony, leading to an argument between the two. Jacobis and his group reportedly left the shop and headed to the parapet at Five Corner. Anthony and his friends followed them, continuing the argument.
It is alleged that Jacobis and his group began throwing beer bottles at Jacobis and his gang.
“A brawl erupted between both parties in the parking lot of Five Corner, and Jacobis allegedly rushed into the fight with a knife and stabbed Anthony Jacobs in his abdomen, causing him to fall,” police said in the report.
Police continued, “Andrew Jacobs then pulled Anthony away from Cyrus Jacobis and received a cut to his finger in the process.”
The fight escalated as more people from both sides joined the melee. When the altercation finally ended, Andrew noticed his brother, Anthony, was bleeding and, with the help of a public-spirited citizen, rushed him to the Linden Hospital Complex.
Meanwhile, Jacobis and his group left the Five Corner area. Nearby, witnesses saw Kenroy Bradford lying on the ground and contacted the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police gathered information and conducted checks in Dacama Circle, McKenzie, where they arrested Jacobis, whose clothing was stained with what appeared to be blood.
He was taken to the McKenzie Police Station, where it was observed that he had injuries to his back and a cut to his left ear. Police then took him to the Linden Hospital Complex for medical attention, where he was treated and sent away in police custody.
Police said, “The scene was processed, where it was observed that Bradford was motionless, in a crouching position, bracing on the back of a White Premio motor car bearing registration number plate PAH 1750.”
The body was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex, where it was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor. The body is at the J. Jetsco Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, a relative told Kaieteur News that Bradford was parting the fight when he lost his life.
The relative said, “So, a fight broke out between some boys there (and) his friend was one in the mix so he tried to part the fight and they turned on him and he got stab multiple times and his friend got slashed- his insides were coming out. He (is) at the hospital, critical.”
The relative described Bradford as a “sweetheart, always willing, very respectful, always smiling, never likes conflict, loves to live life and be happy with friends and family.”
Other relatives described him as a very quiet person who was never involved in violent confrontations. They all expressed sadness, as according to them, he did not deserve to die in such a way.
Police said Anthony Jacobs is hospitalised in a critical condition at the Linden Hospital Complex.
Those arrested are: 20-year-old Cyrus Jacobis, Tiffany Fiedtkou, and Andrew Jacobs.
