Kaieteur News- March is women’s history month; a time to celebrate the achievements of women across the globe as well as to reflect on some of the challenges faced by those of the feminine gender.

Time to boost your esteem with the ‘Confidence Becomes You’ platform

To this end, Guyanese designer and entrepreneur Sonia Noel created the “CONFIDENCE BECOMES YOU” programme to help boost the self esteem of women. Noel believes while historically, women have faced significant societal and professional barriers, confidence is essential for overcoming these obstacles, challenging stereotypes, and asserting our rightful place.

Having experienced this firsthand, Ms. Noel recognizes the advantages of confidence in achieving personal and professional growth. Confidence empowers women to navigate and overcome workplace biases, take risks, pursue new opportunities, and step outside their comfort zones, where growth occurs.

She noted that the “CONFIDENCE BECOMES YOU” programme was created over a decade ago, with the online version being launched during COVID-19.

According to Noel, when women are confident, they are more likely to pursue promotions, new projects, and leadership roles

“Confidence enables clear and assertive communication, vital for collaboration, negotiation, and leadership. It also strengthens our ability to advocate for ourselves and others, promoting equality.”

She opined. “Confidence fosters resilience, enabling us to recover from setbacks. Confident women serve as powerful role models, inspiring others to pursue their dreams and achieve personal fulfillment. In essence, confidence is a vital tool for women to break barriers, achieve goals, and create a more equitable world.”

Noel is known for her dedication to celebrating women and providing platforms for their development. She has been actively participated in and hosted numerous women-empowering, transformational events in Guyana and internationally. Her highlights include being invited as the keynote speaker at the Ignite the Edge within Every Woman (EGI) Conference in Barbados and mentoring young women on the power of vision and confidence at the Invited Business Fair in Suriname this year.
