Dear Editor
I am not necessarily defending Azuruddin Mohamed but it is tiresome to hear the ranting and raving of the Vice President as he uses his privilege to attack people. It seems that this has become the hallmark of the PPP leaders and their lackeys.
They cannot defend the PPP intellectually, they cannot defend the PPP logically. In fact, because there is no defense of the deep corruption of the PPP. It was President Donald Ramotar in his campaign who stated that the corruption was deep rooted and he would root it out.
When I was personal assistant to the president I was on TV and the host asked me about the corruption and I said I was sick and tired of the corruption. The next day the PS in shock informed me the president’s office ordered my immediate termination. Vindictively they refused to pay me my benefits. PPPites accused me periodically on social media that I stole $5M of flood money in 2005 and I was fired but my contract at OP was signed in 2006. I have been writing regularly in the press about the corruption and other bad policies of the PPP. I was a commissioner on the Public Utilities Commission. The PPP refused to renew my contract. This One Guyana of President Irfan is a farce. Their actions prove it is One PPP as persons have no right to criticise or oppose their nonsense.
Coming back to Mr. Mohamed if the government has any evidence of smuggling by the Mr. Mohamed why is he not before the courts. Bharat Jagdeo spent over one hour slamming the gentleman but seemingly has no evidence to present. If indeed Mr. Mohamed dealing with GRA was corrupt then obviously some heads must roll for he could not have done so as alleged without complicity by some at GRA.
Scare tactics, so I guess if you drive for Mohamed you can be sanctioned. If Survival sell them groceries they can be sanctioned. Bharrat said if transactions are done by US citizens or transits USA they can be sanctioned. My understanding is transactions that transit the USA and not persons. So, if I have some dealings with the Mohameds I would not be sanctioned if I enter USA. This would make America appear ridiculous.
In any event, this is clearly an attempt to destroy a Guyanese owned business. Why should the penalty of smuggling be complete isolation and destruction of a business?
It is so because Mr. Mohamed did the ultimate wrong to create a situation where he is seen as a contender for the presidency and is attracting support. The PPP’s leadership is running scared as many parties are now here to ensure the PPP is removed from government. The PNC also was corrupt and blew a glorious opportunity that they were given. They became just asl corrupt. It is more now because we got more money. They are in disarray and may not retain the position as the main opposition. Many Afro-Guyanese are realising the PNC did not do much for them when in power and cannot do anything for them in opposition. They gave to the boys and cronies just like the PPP. The PNC’s very existence helps to secure the presence of the PPP in office.
Clearly this One Guyana by the President is a farce. We can all see it is One PPP.
Regards
Rajendra Bisessar
