Kaieteur News- Guyanese love a strong man. Not de gym kinda strong, but de big boss man who knock he hand pon table and seh, “Is me seh so!” We love a leader who does talk rough, point finger, and take charge. Don’t let we fool ourselves dat is not so.
But history show that every time we get one of dem, we end up crying. Is a paradox, but we like it so.
Now dem boys hearing some leaders watching Trump 2.0 real close. Y’all know Trump—de man who seh he win even when he lose, who turn lies into alternative facts, and who love a rally. Some politicians in Guyana thinking maybe that could wuk fuh dem too. All dem need now is a red cap wid “Mek Guyana Great Again.”
Imagine wah gon happen if dem try it. Press conferences gon tun into wrestling matches. Instead of answering questions, dem gon tell journalists, “Y’all fake news, sit down!” Instead of running de country, dem gon spend de whole day pon social media cussing out critics. And don’t forget de court cases—because a true Trump-style leader cyah finish a term without at least five lawsuits.
But Guyanese done live dis story before. We had nuff strong men who promise de world and lef we with potholes, blackout, and plenty confusion. Strong man politics always start sweet but end up bitter.
So maybe, just maybe, is time we break dis cycle. Maybe we need leaders who don’t just flex muscle but actually use dem brain. Maybe we need less big talk and more big ideas. But then again, dis Guyana, and Guyanese love lil drama. Who knows? Maybe by next election, somebody gon be promising to build a big, beautiful wall—to keep out all de common sense.
And dem boys seh… it gon be de best wall, believe me!
Talk half. Leff half.
