Kaieteur News- It was excitement throughout the day when the National Draughts Association played off their second leg of the Annual National Championship at the Transport Sports club.
It was Jiaram and Godfrey George who were leading for the entire day until Floyd Cumberbatch defeated Lyndon Heywood taking three valuable points in the final round to the lead on 26 points. George ended closely on 25 points to occupy the second spot, while Jiaram also was close with 24 points to secure the third position. Aubrey Straughn, who was trailing on 19 points, made a clean sweep over Ramsagar Singh to move up to 23 points earning him the fourth prize. Former Champion Steve Bacchus with 21 points was denied the fourth position due to Straughn’s performance.
The final action continues this Sunday where the contest would be played on the 10×10 boards.
