Dear Editors,
It has been brought to my attention that “Dr.” Jagdeo, at his most recent press conference (13.6.24), has alluded to the fact that I may not have been declaring my assets. He said: “You should ask Trotman and those officials whether they declared their assets and what they were doing in those three years”. The answer is “yes”, we did file returns.
For the avoidance of any doubt, please let me say that before, during, and after my tenure as a Minister of Government, I filed all returns with the Integrity Commission. I was most sensitive to the nature of my job as Minister of Natural Resources and ensured that returns were duly filed; even in the three years when the Commission was not properly constituted.
I have the receipts to prove this and am asking the Integrity Commission to cooperate and say whether this is not so, and whether my name has ever been published for being in default.
On the other matter of gold smuggling, and my involvement with the US government, which Jagdeo was fulminating about, I will give a fuller response soon.
Please give this letter wide publication.
Sincerely,
Raphael Trotman
