Ceasefire plan is not a haggling exercise
Dear Editor,
First Hamas submitted a ceasefire plan, but that was outright rejected by Israel. Now its ally has submitted one, approved by UNSC (no veto) and which to all extent and purposes seem amenable to one side, but Hamas wants changes. So the call is the haggling must stop.
A clearly frustrated Secretary, on yet another visit to the Region, seems intent on securing the deal, at all costs, at least that is the perception, as Israel’s careful posturing suggests it could work with the WH proposal, amid threats from its coalition partners.
Still no day after plan in place.
No deal will be signed until the haggling has outcomes acceptable to both sides. So the wait continues as does the massacre.
