Kaieteur News – Mel’s High Tea event held last Saturday at the Marriot Hotel has been dubbed the highlight of the Women History Month. The event hosted by prominent Guyanese entrepreneur and Fitness Coach, Melissa Hillaire celebrated and supported women-owned businesses in an atmosphere filled with empowerment and inspiration.
This is the 2nd female empowerment and networking, hosted by Hillaire. She said that a lot of thought and consideration was placed into organizing and putting together her networking showcase.
The entrepreneur said the event is about giving women in business and service a platform to showcase their brands as well as offering them an opportunity to collaborate with other businesses that can help take them to another level.
Last Saturday, over 150 attendees gathered to enjoy the festivities, including a delightful fashion show featuring two women-owned boutiques and Mel’s Fitness line. The event featured pop-up shops from over 15 remarkable women-owned businesses, showcasing their unique products and services.
The participating businesses included Mel’s Fitness and Nutrition Club, Women’s Haven Guyana, Le Boutique by Nikita, Wellcare Pharmacy, Leisa Salon and Beauty Supplies, Marie and Me, Juv Guyana, Recreation by Rhiann, Debora Rackel Hairstylist, Josaline Aesthetics, Nature’s Choice Sea Moss, Obsession Fashion, Internet World, Pinch Creative Expressions, Camegs Fashion, Camille’s Academy, Silvie’s Industrial Solutions, BPI Guyana, Coach Michelle, Cerulean Inc, and Glo-See Marketing and PR.
Event coordinator and CEO of Glo-See Marketing and PR, Sophia Dolphin explained that “Mel’s High Tea was a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and celebration, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended.”
In addition to showcasing women-owned businesses, the event also recognized and supported cancer survivors, highlighting their resilience and strength. Attendees were treated to great food, entertainment, and a dynamic speech by the esteemed Melissa O Vieira, a retired Senior Human Resources Manager from the United States Air Force. This year’s guest speaker has extensive experience in leadership and management. During her 21 years, she also worked in Business Transformation, Logistical support, Finance and Project Management.
She is currently working at a global organization, International SOS, where she serves as the Administration Leader for Guyana Team of over 80 personnel both Guyanese Nationals and Expatriates. O Vieira remigrated to Guyana in 2022 from the United States and has a 10-year-old son whose name is Mason.
