Kaieteur News – Those who opted not to join the thousands at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence East Bank Demerara (EBD) celebrated Phagwah in the comforts of their neighbourhood on Monday.
Kaieteur News took a drive around the city and found Guyanese of all ethnic groups and ages who played in colourful powders and water.
People gathered around the music boxes at Cheers and Beers at Alexander Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
In the streets there were small pick-up trucks with drums of water and as they drove passed, they soaked whoever was in their path.
In Alexander Village and Albouystown it was a celebration among neighbours while at the National Stadium it was party-like scene.
There were live performances from local and international chutney artists from neighbouring Suriname.
The festivities ended at the stadium around 18:00 hrs but scores celebrated into the late hours of the night.
