Kaieteur Sports – The East Bank versus The Rest Street Football competition continued Saturday last, with gripping quarter-final showdowns at the Tarmac of Mocha Community Centre as Five-O, Sparta Boss, Team Family, and Stabroek Ballers triumphed with exhilarating victories, advancing to the semifinals.
The first clash ignited as Stabroek Ballers faced Back Street Warriors, with Jamal Coizer stealing the spotlight. Coizer’s two crucial goals in the 4th and 18th minutes sealed Stabroek Ballers’ spot in the quarter-finals. Their subsequent face-off against a formidable Back Circle side saw Darren Benjamin’s lone goal in the 7th minute to secure Stabroek Ballers’ well-deserved victory, propelling them into the semis.
In the other quarter-final matches, Five-O clinched a thrilling 3-2 win against Agricola, thanks to Timothy Thomas’s stellar performance with a hat-trick in the 5th, 12th, and 28th minutes. Team Family dominated The Talibans, securing a commanding 3-0 victory with Dexroy Abrams netting a double in the 5th and 8th minutes, followed by Sese Norville’s goal in the 18th minute. Crowd favourites Sparta Boss claimed a 2-0 win over Team Unruly, propelled by Jermaine Junior’s brace in the 4th and 8th minutes.
The stage is set for the semi-finals on Saturday, December 16, at the same venue. The tournament’s success is indebted to the generous support of Ryda Hard Wine, GT Beer, Klovers Fashion, Adrian’s Groceries, Mocha Arcadia NDC, Hungry Helpers, Joy’s Water, and Igloo Ice Cream.
