Kaieteur Sports – Defending champions Rivers View and current League leaders Beacons FC secured comfortable wins last Wednesday night at the Bartica Community Centre ground where 2nd round matches in the Senior Men’s League of the Bartica FA continued.
A 3rd hat-trick of the season by the League’s top goal scorer, Andrew Simmons piloted cup holders Rivers View to an easy 6-1 win over Mill Ballers. Simmons was on target in the 9th, 63rd and 65th minutes to take his season tally to 16 goals. Omareo Lake supported with a brace (51′ and 55′) and Aloysious Edwards one in the 35th minute. For Ballers, Nigel Alleyne got the consolation in the 28th minute.
Rivers View with their 7th win moved into 2nd place on 21 points from 9 games, while Ballers remained 2nd from the bottom on 3 points after 9 games as well.
The other game was also the 9th outing for Beacons who maintained their unbeaten record after an easy 3-1 victory over Rising Stars to stay at the top on 23 points. A double from Shaquille Hopkinson and one from Troy Dougan in the first period took the fight out of the Stars who pulled one back thanks to Ian Gomes. It was the 3rd loss for the Stars who remain in 4th position on 14 points after 9 games.
The Bartica FA’s Senior Men’s League is mainly funded by the Guyana Football Federation through its Members-Financial Assistance Programme (M-FAP).
