Take precautions to avoid wildfires
Dear Editor,
The recent terrible scenes and images on news sites of destruction and devastation in Maui Hawaii, caused by wildfires fuelled by heavy winds must raise red flags here. Given our prevailing scorching, dry weather conditions the chances of dry grass, bush and other inflammable and combustible materials catching afire is a high probability.
It is hoped the authorities and citizens are cognizant of these conditions and take the necessary precautions to avoid a similar situation or one near so as is experienced on that side of the Pacific Ocean.
