Dem thought dem would have ride out de storm. But a man named Pompeo decide fuh fire a warning shot over dem bow. And when he did, if yuh see how dem duck fuh cover. All de man do was to announce visa restrictions pon anyone who sought to frustrate de democratic will of de people.
It was as if the heavens had parted, and the Coal-a-Shun suddenly found its senses, albeit driven by the fear of visa restrictions. With a single announcement from Pompeo, dem wah bin trying fuh hijack de elections were jolted back to reality from their alternative universe. The terrifying announcements of those visa restrictions struck like lightning, scattering plans like a flock of panicked parrots.
Suddenly persons began to find their moral compass and claim how de government should do the right thing. Dem overseas folks wah bin been pushing false narratives, hastily called their relatives back home, issuing strict instructions to abandon any mention of deceased and migrant persons casting votes. Dem tell dem family to not put any such information pon Facebook because dem in America too could get deport.
What the world failed to achieve, the US visa threat solved. Guyana’s democracy was saved not by international pressure but by the fear of visa revocation. But now people settle back in dem old ways and claiming how Guyana gat an ‘installed’ government. Dem boys hope that some of dem wah pushing dis narrative read how de visa of a former President of Panama get pull yesterday.
