GCB U17 Inter-county tournament…
Kaieteur Sports – A breathing century from Johnathan Van Lange led Demerara to a whopping 202 run win over Essequibo yesterday at Everest, when the GCB U17 Inter-county tournament continued.
Demerara posted a mammoth 272 for 9 in 50 overs thanks mainly to their skipper who hammered 158 from just 85 balls with a record 17 sixes and just 4 fours, destroying the opposition bowling.
Support which seemingly wasn’t needed but still provided, saw opener Vikash Wilson hitting (34) and Nityana Mauthra (25) giving good accounts of themselves.
Just Guclcharan Chulai who claimed 3-11 and Royden Morris (2-17) managed to land significant blows with the ball for Essequibo.
In reply the total was too much and Essequibo folded for just 70 runs with Govin Persaud leading with 17. Demerara bowlers were relentless as Mathura, Stephon Sankar Van Lange and Shane Prince all bagged 2 wickets apiece to keep Essequibo well out the game.
