– finds success at recent Kata & Kumite Championships in St. Vincent
Kaieteur News – Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Keith Beaton recently participated in the ‘Hairouna Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Kata and Kumite Championships’ held in Saint Vincent between April 6 – 9, 2023.
Seven countries participated in the tournament including Guyana sending a 4 member team to compete, of which ASP Beaton was the lone Policeman.
Mr Beaton fought in the male adult 84+KG Kumite (fight) where he defeated his opponent, earning second place and a silver medal.

ASP Beaton’s most recent competition (before this one in St. Vincent), was held at the YMCA on March 12, 2023, where he competed in the KATA Association of Guyana Karate Championships and won a silver medal.
Mr Beaton is now expected to participate in the upcoming Caribbean Karate Federation tournament in July 2023.
Acting Commissioner of Police Mr Clifton Hicken and his administrative team join in extending congratulations to Assistant Superintendent Keith Beaton on his inspiring achievements and pledged the GPF’s continued support of Mr Beaton’s professional and sporting career.
