Dear Editor
Kaieteur News – Some weeks ago, it was reported by the side which filed the court matter in the suspended subvention to the organisation that progress was made on the issue of the return of the subvention. This was swiftly refuted by the Attorney General. Now in a turn of events, it is reported that the mediation talks have collapsed and hit rock bottom. The court has set a date for a full hearing on the filed matter.
Now, in a further turn of events, it is reported Government will disburse the approved 2023 budgeted funds directly to organisations affiliated to the umbrella organisation (Demerarawaves April 14). This is a bold move. But no mention has been made of employees of the organisation who are caught in the storm between the sides and of course are now collateral damage. It stands to reason if the affiliated organisations can benefit from the disbursement so too should the employees.
They must be afforded consideration in this regard.
Regards
Shamshun Mohamed
