In our October 27, 2020 issue of the Kaieteur News we published a letter written by Vassan Ramracha containing defamatory words against Mr. Eusi Kwayana.
Those words meant and were understood to mean that in all the history of Guyana, most of the political division in Guyana was caused by Mr. Kwayana. Further, the words in question, conveyed that Mr. Kwayana have urged the unconditional partitioning of Guyana and that he had prior information about a massacre that took place at Wismar in 1964 and that he had the means to prevent its occurrence, yet he allowed such a massacre to proceed.
Kaieteur News has recognised that these remarks are all libelous, all entirely false. Their effect has been to cause injury and damage to Mr. Kwayana’s reputation, to bring him into public odium, contempt, ridicule and lower his estimation of right-thinking members of the community.
Therefore, the Kaieteur News issues this unqualified apology to Mr. Kwayana and also retracts the offending letter by Mr. Ramracha.
