Dear Editor,
Guyana is a democracy in name only in that the current PPPC Government does not believe in the democratic process whereby good governance, accountability and transparency is practiced. This can be demonstrated by the non-consultative approach and the non-functioning of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (which provides oversight to Government Spending) by the Government.
The APNU is just as bad. We did not get change in Guyana; we got exchange. The reality is Guyanese got short-changed by Governments (both presently and in the past).
What can be done?
Local Government Election is soon to take place in Guyana. There is no need to vote for the PPPC nor the APNU nor AFC as they all talk the good talk when out of Government but do not walk the walk when Guyanese put them in Government.
Vote for another political party which can hold the balance of power which will not side with the other three (PPPC, APNU nor AFC). They are all taking Guyanese for granted because Guyanese may not be voting for the political party of their choice but rather for keeping “the other side” out. Guyanese need to get the Government of the day to work in their best interest. Or else, boot them out of Government.
Sincerely,
Sean Ori
