Guyanese self – published author conferred with int’l award

Kaieteur News – Guyanese self-published author, Geary Reid, is the current holder of the Global Author Club and Business Award (TGAC & BA) 2022.

Reid, the creator of the ‘Reid N Learn’ book series under which he authored and self-published 92 books which are currently available on Amazon, was nominated for the award last November.

He was officially presented during a ceremony held in the United Kingdom on December 16, 2022.

Mr. Reid was nominated for the Global Author Award of the year award 2022, by Founder and President of the Local Experts Group in Canada, Mr. Raymond Harlall.

The ‘Global Authors’ Club and Business Awards’ is an organisation that seeks to boost entrepreneurs’ satisfaction by helping to build an impactful and international online reputation.

The ‘Global Authors’ Club’ recognises the uniqueness of an individual and has decided to work to bring each person’s relentless efforts to global attention.

Mr. Harlall is the co-host for ‘The Global Authors’ Club and Business Award’. The Executive Director (Head) of ‘The Global Authors’ Club and Business Awards’ is Dr. Philip Oladejo who resides in the United Kingdom

Reid explained that Mr. Harlall had seen some of the books he authored, via his Facebook page and reached out to him.

“He mentioned that he never knew that I was an author. I revealed to him that I am an author and he asked how many books I have authored. When I replied to him that I have 92 books, he was amazed and then informed me that he’ll nominate me for the Global Author of the year award 2022, as he knows it will provide much international recognition for me. I agreed with him,” added the self-publisher writer.

He expressed his gratitude to the international organization for recognizing his contribution.

“I am excited about receiving this award, since it is my first award, and most importantly, it is a global award from a credible entity. This award will provide more recognition for my works as an author,” Reid said.

He said that he looks forward to having more awards.

“With the wide genre of books I have authored, many authors’ clubs around the world will issue awards to me because of my contribution to the body of knowledge globally.

Added to this, the team from Reid n Learn congratulated Mr. Reid on this amazing achievement, a symbol of his dedication and hard work. “We’d also like to thank his supporters and well wishers.”

In 2020 Reid etched his way into the annals of Guyanese history when 34 books he authored were self-published within one month.

Of the collection, 16 are under the broad headline ‘Academia and Professional Business’; five can be found under `General Knowledge and Motivational’; seven deal with the `Christian Religion,’ while six addresses `Family Life.’

Included among them are books such as `Make Learning Your Best Friend’; `Winning Your Next Interview’; `Managing Your Organisation’; `Simple Techniques For Managing Your Finances’; `Success is Possible For Everyone’; `Why Attending Church Is Important’; `Care And Respect For The Elderly’; “Parenting Not An Easy Job’; `Fathers Are Important” and ‘Building Relationships and Avoiding Extramarital Affairs.

During a previous interview with this newspaper, Reid had related that writing has been his passion since his school days. He is married and resides at Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, with his wife Patricia and two children. A strong Christian believer, he added that serving the Lord is an important activity for him, having been a Christian since 1986. During that time he has rendered several years of teaching Sunday school to both children and adults. This has enhanced his knowledge and growth in God, he remarked.

A Chartered Accountant also by profession, Reid also has a wealth of business experience, having spent 25 years working in the areas of retailing, education, agriculture, natural resources, manufacturing, insurance and motor industries. According to him, he has never been afraid of challenges, as it provides opportunities for creativity.

Reid is currently a Reverend at the World Vision New Testament Church of God, David and Pere Streets, Kitty. He has been serving as the church’s Treasurer since 1998.

He is ardent believer in the importance of learning and developing one’s self. The author’s collection of books is currently available for sale on Amazon.com and the website www.reidnlearn.com.
