Kaieteur News – Looking to have a wide variety of sweet treats for your upcoming occasion, then ‘Selena Sweet Treats’ is the place to go. Launched in March this year, ‘Selena Sweet Treats’ is owned by a talented young woman name, Selena Gittens.
Twenty-eight-year-old Gittens in a recent interview with this magazine, said that what had led to her bringing about this venture was the fact that she was having difficulty finding employment. “I used to send in applications all over to ministries and wasn’t getting any jobs, so I then decided to go to classes to become a Custom Broker,” she shared.
Gittens said after successfully completing the training and attaining a certificate, the pandemic had brought a halt to everything, which again interfered with her finding employment. Not letting the adversity overcome her, Gittens said that is when she made the decision to do something on her own that would help financially. That is how her business came about.
The business, she mentioned, caters for any occasion such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, baby showers, and offers a wide variety of treats, such as chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered Oreos, chocolate covered marshmallows, chocolate covered banana, chocolate covered pineapple, and rice Krispie treats persons can place orders for.
According to the young Businesswoman, though newly minted in business, her support system has been great, thus far. She added that, at the initial phase of things, the only major challenge she faced was not getting that many orders. But eventually, with the encouragement and support of her family, she managed to overcome the few obstacles she had encountered.
When asked what the future plan is for the business, Gittens said that her goal is for the business to grow. She wants in the future also, to establish a physical location where her services can be easily accessed for persons.
Meanwhile she is of the belief that small businesses owners, such as herself, are vital to our society because they introduce new products and services. “Young Entrepreneurs are important to society because we bring new products to the table, making people happy,” she said.
Gittens added that to boost small businesses locally, it would be helpful for business owners to get loans easily with reduced interested rates.
Persons desirous of utilizing Gittens service can contact her via WhatsApp on (592) 666-6309, or through her business pages, Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok @ Selena sweet treats.
