– labourer gets six months for wounding man
Kaieteur News – A wife beater will spend the next four months behind bars after admitting at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court that he had assaulted his wife on Tuesday last.
He was identified as Danillo Cornelious, a 35-year-old labourer of Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast Region Two. Cornelious made his court appearance on Wednesday before Magistrate Crystal Lambert and he pleaded guilty to offence of assaulting his wife.
Meanwhile, another labourer, Keshwa Nauth, 22, had also appeared at the same court but he was accused of unlawfully wounding a man identified as Sewnandan Persaud. Nauth of Bush Lot, Essequibo Coast, was arrested on Monday last for the offence and when Magistrate Lambert read the charge to him, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in prison.
