Accelerated Racist Policies (ARP) against African-Guyanese

Dear Editor,

Racism in Guyana is getting worst, fuelled by the current governing administration’s Accelerated Racist Policies (ARP). The wealth of the nation is being allocated, divvied up, and Indianized to the detriment of African-Guyanese.

Definitive statements like the above if made by President Obama would be preceded by “Let me be Clear”; President Biden would precede such a statement with “Here is the deal”. The American leaders make these leading remarks to highlight matters of great importance.

In my everlasting debt to Walter Rodney, I simply say “It seems to me” that the PPP administration is intent on pushing Guyanese Blacks off the cliff that surrounds Guyana’s economic fields of wealth.

Over the last several months, African-Guyanese leadership have been vocal about the impoverishing of traditional PNC supporters and have referred to ARP as economic apartheid.

The African-Guyanese “talented tenth” a term coined by W. E. B. Du Bois, must stand together with like-minded Guyanese and dismantle the imposition of ARP against African-Guyanese.

In my clairvoyant letter published in Stabroek News, dated March 2, 2021; and captioned “The administration must govern openly to reduce inequalities within and between groups of Guyanese.”

I noted PPP continuing assault on the economic well-being of PNC supporters, actually justified rigged elections between 1964 and 1992.

The morose and gross misconduct by the current PPP administration has justified attempts by the Granger administration to disenfranchise the votes of PPP supporters in the 2020 General Elections.

The efforts by Lowenfield and Mingo to undermine the majority vote is now defensible. The dismissals in the public sector of Junior and Senior officers are acts of callousness and prejudice.

Small contractors with government agencies are replaced, only because they are perceived to have voted for the PNC.

Large government contracts for African Guyanese are non-existent.

Having Guyanese businessmen grovel to benefit from the wealth bestowed upon our nation, is psychologically destabilising for the confidence, mental condition and courage needed for the masses of African-Guyanese to have the hope and belief that they can succeed. This suppressive and harassing system is fuelled by the ARP of this PPP administration that is enamoured and intent on having an Indian Supremacy Governance Structure.

As Marcus Garvey noted, “Those of us with vision, cannot desert the race, leaving it to suffer and die.”

Having a few African-Guyanese as window dressers and rubber stamps, with high sounding titles and minuscule decision-making powers and who are willing to accept the crumbs and scraps for personal and marginal privileges is an embarrassing and humiliating spectacle to observe for conscious blacks.

It is an abuse of power to wage a war against PNC supporters by dismissing and demoting them from and within the public sector, this is especially wicked, considering that the public sector is where the core of PNC supporters gain a sustainable livelihood.

There is no democratic value in accepting election results that will end your right to work, end your right to equitable allocation and access to financial capital, deny and/or deprioritise your right to own property, and have no equitable right to obtain government contracts.

Supporting a voting numbers majority that results in marginalisation and subjugation is illogical and makes a mockery of majority rules-based democracy.

Why provide a rope for your own lynching?

The efforts by Lowenfield and Mingo to undermine the majority vote are now defensible, due to the un-inclusive nature of governance by the PPP administration.

The discrimination and racism have gone so far beyond the pale that African-Guyanese can no longer wait on 2025 General Elections to obtain genuine inclusive economic policies.

The Accelerated Racist Policies (ARP) that are being carried out by this PPP Administration necessitates the oppressed group to deal decisively with these subjugating policies now.
