Congratulations to our CSEC, CAPE students
Dear Editor
Congratulations are in order for all our students who excelled at this year’s CSEC and CAPE examinations. What is particularly encouraging is the spread of high student attainment in all regions of Guyana. The Anna Regina Multilateral School must be singled out for special commendation for consistently high performances, having topped Guyana and the Caribbean on multiple occasions. This is indeed refreshing and augers well for our human resources development especially at this time when the country is on the path to sustained economic growth.
Today our students are not only closing the performance gap but are also topping in several subject areas including that of the overall best. What is particularly encouraging is the fact that our male students seem to be doing better. Female students generally outperform males in attainment levels but the results have shown that our boys are becoming more competitive at the exams. The syndrome of ‘male under-achievement’ is a global phenomenon and by no means peculiar to Guyana.
