Clear Waters powering Everest CC campers
Kaieteur News- The annual Everest Cricket Club (ECC) live-in cricket camp is back after a 2-year’s absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The five-day camp which begins today, Wednesday July 12, is catering for 40 eager associate members who have signed up for a cricketing experience that will change the way they see the beautiful game.
The unique cricket academy-style camp which is being held under the theme, “Prepare today for a better tomorrow,” will see the young cricketers between the ages of 9 and 19 being exposed to indoor and outdoor events associated with being a professional cricketer.

On the outside, the campers will go through cricket drills including warm up, cool down, batting, bowling and fielding under the guidance of camp leader, Saheed Mohamed and camp coach, Travis Mohamed. The indoor sessions will seek to widen their knowledge of the game with modules such as captaincy, field placing, careers in and around cricket and discipline.
When the camp whistle is blown on the opening day, there will be welcome remarks by President of ECC and the Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly, Manzoor Nadir, representatives of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), the coaches and camp mother, Christine Oudkerk.
Over the course of the camp, there will be presentations from the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Narine Singh on the importance of core exercise, health and fitness and Police Commander Orin Porter on the significance of discipline. There will also be motivational speeches by cricket administrator, Shaun Massiah, senior national player Akshaya Persaud and international super stars, Keemo Paul and Gudakesh Motie who were all successful youth players.
The live-in camp is a calendar event for the prestigious cricket club for which the executives and members take pride in organizing and executing.
The success of the camp could not have been possible without the support of corporate Guyana. On Tuesday, Managing Director of Clear Waters, Ricky Lucknauth handed over 20 cases of bottled water to President Nadir at the Camp street club. Clear Waters has been fuelling the camp since the inception in 2018 and is pleased to contribute to the success of the young cricketers once again.
Other donors include Sterling Products Limited, Narine’s Liqour Store, Parliament Office, Bounty Farm Limited, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Toucan Industries, General Marine, Metro, Mattai’s Food Market, Ariel Enterprise, Ravin Radiator Works, AP Ranch, Bakewell, Coss Cutters, China Wholesale and Gain Mart.
On Sunday, day five, Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. will be the featured guest at the closing dinner which will also include a prize giving ceremony. Before dinner, the participants will have a fun day alongside their parents and members of ECC including softball cricket matches and a cookout all at the Everest Cricket Club, Camp road and Carifesta Avenue.
