Dear Editor,
Freddie Kissoon has recently written a column in which he stated that, as much as there are bad people in Guyana, there are still many good people. He wrote about his experience when his car battery went dead and a driver saw him, stopped, and offered to help. I agree with Freddie. Recently, my high school classmate, in the 1960’s, Joseph Ragnauth, visited Guyana.
He took the Airport Mini Bus Taxi Services. After he was dropped off, he realised that 4000.00 US in an envelope was not in his pocket. The airplane officials and the taxi driver were asked to check the seats respectively. The money was not found. The next morning, however, the door bell rang and Joseph answered the door.
There is the taxi driver, Victor Powley, standing with an envelope in hand, telling Joe that he found the money in his mini van this morning. Amazing! Yes Freddie, we still have very honest people and hope, in Guyana. God bless the taxi driver.
