Dear Editor,
One could not help but applaud the nobility of the current Administration and familial groups in their respective pronouncements on the 74th anniversary of Enmore Martyrs Day.
In the accustomed declaration of democratic unity, not a single voice of generosity would advert to the historical fact that it was Forbes Burnham who instructed the Chairman of GuySuCo, Harold Davis, to arrange for the erection of the Enmore Martyrs Monument soon after the sugar industry was nationalised. This survivor was there at the first ceremony, along with other managers, and unions of the day. It is a fact of history that deserves a modicum of acknowledgement by all the citizenry.
