Football action returns to Berbice

– Eight teams to feature in Men’s League

All is set for the restart of football action in the Ancient country of Berbice today.

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/ Berbice Football Association (BFA) 2022 Senior Men’s League which involves squads from both East and West Berbice will see eight teams participating.

The competition will get underway at the Monedderlust (No. 5) Ground, West Coast Berbice with a double header.

Paradise Football Club of West Coast Berbice will be taking on Corriverton Links FC of Corentyne in the opener encounter from 15:00 hrs. That match will be followed by the march past of the teams involved which will be taken by officials from both the GFF and BFA.

The second game is expected to commence at 17:00 hrs with Rosignol United out of West Bank Berbice playing Monedderlust Football Club of West Coast Berbice.

The other clubs involved in the competition are Cougars FC, New Amsterdam United and Hearts of Oak FC of New Amsterdam along with Hopetown Rangers FC of West Coast Berbice.

At the end of the competition the top three teams along with outstanding individual players will be rewarded with incentives. The top two teams will be selected to represent the Association in the National League which is expected to follow.

Four venues have been earmarked for play with the other three being the Esplanade Ground in New Amsterdam, the Corriverton Ground and the Rosignol Play field.

According to BFA President, Sherwin Forde, the Association is presently seeking sponsorship to help offset the staging of the competition. Forde also stated that he is expecting a keenly contested competition since the teams are all set and ready for competition.
