Kaieteur News – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced for the general public that Toolsie Persaud Timber Traders Inc. State Forest Exploratory Permit (SFEP) 02/2013 Logging Project located at Right Bank Cuyuni River, Left Bank Puruni River, Left Bank Ekabago River, Right Bank Mara-Mara River, Region 7 has been approved.
This, pursuant to Section 12 of the Environmental Protection Act, Cap. 20:05, based on the following grounds:
The EPA said that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has fully complied with the Terms and Scope which were set by the EPA in consideration of the submissions made by members of the public.
It said the EIA has adequately addressed the views and feedback expressed by members of the public and other stakeholders during consultations and the statutory sixty (60) day public review period.
“he EIA has adequately assessed the potential adverse effects or risks posed by the project, and The Environmental Mitigation Plan contained therein, proposes appropriate and adequate measures to mitigate the same; and 4. The Environmental Assessment Board has approved the EIA, according to the EPA.
