By -election to determine PNC/R Vice-Chair

…as new faces dominate Central Executive

Kaieteur News – With two members receiving equal number of votes for the position of Vice Chair of the Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR), there will have to be a by-election held in order to decide on the individual to fill the slate.

Tied for the position of PNC/R Vice Chair, Christopher Jones

This was confirmed yesterday by PNC/R Chief Elections Officer (CEO), Vincent Alexander, for its 21st Biennial Congress, which ran off Saturday last.
Those tied for the position are Christopher Jones and Vinceroy Jordan.
He gave the announcement yesterday as the certified results were handed over to the party.
Additionally, the full slate of the Central Executive Committee—the highest decision-making body of the party—is still without its full complement as there was also a tie for one of the spots.
As such, 14 persons have since been confirmed on the CEC, while that body will determine the way forward on its 15th member.
Those confirmed, as announced by Alexander are, Amanza Walton-Desir, Annette Ferguson, Christopher Jones, Corretta McDonald,

Geeta Chandan Edmond, Reaz Roopnarine, Dawn Hastings, Edward Collins, Ganesh Mahipaul, Gary Best, Hazel Pyle Lewis, Jermaine Figeuira, Kirk Fraser, Troy Garroway and Samuel Sandy.

Tied for the position of PNC/R Vice Chair, Vinceroy Jordan

Sherwayne Holder was elected Chairman of the party having received the most votes for that post.
Outgoing Chair Volda Lawrence in her remarks to the gathering at Congress Place yesterday formally handed over the reins of leadership.
With regard the position of General Secretary, to be appointed by the newly elected leader, Aubrey Norton, disclosed “I do have someone in mind.”
According to Norton, the General Secretary must “be someone that everybody wants to speak to, feel comfortable with, have to have good human relations skills, must be professional, must be competent.”
This person, he observed is responsible for management of the secretariat and party affairs, and as such must have management skills, meticulous in planning and implementation and must be one who can relate to Guyanese of all walks of life.
