Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – I would like to add my voice to those persons who have complained about the noise made by
firecrackers. I have complained about this for years here in Lethem but have never gotten any satisfaction.
There is a law against such noise nuisances – whether it is from firecrackers, or vehicles without
exhausts, or loud music – yet nothing is done by the Police. Two weeks ago loud music could be heard for many hours several blocks away. And just Monday morning at 2.15 am a vehicle was playing loud music, and in violation of the curfew hours.
The Police should know exactly who are the vendors of these devices as well as the perpetrators of the offences. Both elderly people and dogs are affected. Why, year after year, is no action taken?
Yours truly,
Clairmont Lye
