Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – Please permit me space to announce the establishment of an “Open Book Shelf” for residents of the Capoey Lake reservation on the Essequibo Coast.
In this arrangement, the books will be protected from the elements but villagers can come in their own time to borrow a book and replace it when they’re finished. It operates on the principle of trust so no librarian or security is necessary.
The community wishes to thank Mr. Walter Persaud (Robin) of Park Vue International Hotel at Farm East Bank Demerara and the Persaud family of the Guyanese diaspora in Orlando, Florida for the donation of a set of children books towards the Open Book Shelf Project.
Yours sincerely,
Ralph Hendricks
