Kaieteur News – Two Berbice teams, Demerara and Essequibo are the four sides in the race for trophies and cash incentives in the 2021 Dassy and Friends Promotion whiteball inter-county one-day tournament.
Berbice will clash with Demerara in the open category 15-over contest, while Essequibo and Berbice will tackle each other in the round-arm category, also 15-overs.
Both matches are set for Keele top in Toronto on Saturday. The action is set to bowl off at 04:30 pm and will finish under the lights. Preceding the finals, there will be an exhibition 10-over match between Leguan Boyz and Apex Predators. The winner will collect a trophy and $500.
Notably, the one-day extravaganza was played two Saturdays ago but just after the commencement of the finals, there was a torrential downpour which called off proceedings. However, organizer Damodar Daesrath decided to run off the finals Saturday, weather permitting.
The other teams who took part were two Canadian All-Stars and another Demerara and Essequibo team in the respective categories.
The winning team in the Flick-bowling (open) will take home a trophy and Cdn$2,500, while the runners-up collecting $500 and a trophy. For the round-arm, the victorious side is set to receive $2,000 and a trophy with the runners-up a trophy and $500. Other prizes are up for grabs. Daesrath, a former Guyana first-class captain stated that everything is in place for the showdown and again promised fans great excitement on-field.
