Guyana records two additional COVID-19 deaths

Kaieteur News- The Ministry of Health (MoH) in its COVID-19 update earlier today, reported that two additional persons have died from the disease, taking the total number of deaths recorded for the month of June to 26 and the overall death toll from the pandemic to 424.
The latest victims succumbed on June 11 while receiving care at a medical facility.
They are a 51-year-old female from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) and 71-year-old male from Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
In addition to the deaths reported, there are 107 new infected COVID-19 cases recorded during the past 24-hour period which were taken from a total of 1,199 tests.
The new cases recorded are from Regions One, Seven and Nine with two infected cases each, Region Two with 16 cases, Region Three recording 9 cases, Region Four with the highest total of 55 cases, Region Five having four cases, Region Six with five cases and Region Ten having 12 cases.
There were no new cases recorded in Region Eight. To date, 18,303 persons have been infected with the disease since March last year.
There are 21 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), in institutional isolation are 113 people, three in institutional quarantine and 1,495 are in home isolation, while 1,632 active cases are on record.
A total of 16,250 persons have recovered from the virus so far.
