DEAR EDITOR,
Kaieteur News – Thank you for exposing corruption and promoting good governance. That said, I wish to highlight an issue of tendering at the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Procurement Commission and Integrity Commission need to be alerted of and investigate the decision to cancel tenders and bids at the Ministry of Agriculture. The projects are budgeted for and the works are essential and urgent. Yet fully evaluated projects are being abandoned.
Staff was instructed by the Minister to cancel tendering. But some of the bids were already reviewed and approved by the Ministry’s technical staff and sent to cabinet for approval. And suddenly, strangely, staff was instructed to cancel bids.
In fairness to the multitude of bidders, they should at a minimum be informed as to why the bids are being cancelled. Let the bidders know the deficiency in their bids that warranted such extreme action on the part of the Minister of Agriculture. The bidders should be made aware of their shortfall and deficiencies in their bids so as to avoid same when projects are re-tendered. An investigation is also needed on why the bids and tenders were cancelled in the first place. What was wrong? Answers are warranted.
Yours truly,
Joshua Emmanuel
