Kaieteur News – A miner, 18, had to be rescued on Friday last by public-spirited citizens after he was attacked at Five Star Landing, North West District (NWD), Region One, by three men who slashed and chopped him about his body.
The severely injured teen has been identified as Gregory Henry of Return, Baramita.
According to police reports so far, the teen was attacked by the men in the morning hours.
Based on sketchy reports reaching Kaieteur News, Henry knew his attackers very well. This newspaper was told that he and the men had an ongoing feud, which escalated on Friday. After the attack, citizens nearby rushed to rescue a bleeding Henry. They applied first aid to his gaping wounds and took a nearly 4-hour long journey to the Port Kaituma Hospital.
Doctors there admitted and treated him; however, due to the severity of his wounds, Henry was airlifted to the city for further medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Based on photos seen by this media house, Henry was slashed and chopped to his hands, arms, face and other parts of his body.
His condition is currently regarded as stable, as he continues to receive treatment at GPHC.
