Kaieteur News – A doctor was arrested yesterday for hosting a wedding in breach of the COVID-19 restrictions on social activities.
The doctor, Ravindranauth Persaud, 43, of 52 Patentia, West Bank Demerara, has since been released from police custody, on self-bail.
According to a police report, the incident occurred around 12:30 hrs. on Patentia Public Road. The report stated that ranks on motorcycle patrol saw a large crowd gathered at a house and decided to investigate.
The ranks discovered that it was a wedding and they subsequently confronted the owner, who was later arrested for breach of COVID-19 restrictions.
The ranks then dispersed the crowd, and while doing that, a few persons reportedly used a series of explicit language towards them. One of the ranks also disconnected the laptop and other items from the DJ booth, and the equipment was lodged at the station.
