Kaieteur News – A 29-year-old mason of First Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara was on Wednesday slapped with two counts of break and entry and larceny charge at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court, when he appeared before Magistrate Alisha George.
It was alleged that between August 8 and 9 last year, Vinoo Khan, a father of two, while in the company of others broke and entered Hybrid Electronic Store located at Crown Dam, Industry and owned by Ecliff Bradford, and carted off a quantity of electronics valued over two million dollars. The men allegedly stole a quantity of cellphones, memory cards, flash drives, cellphone chargers, charging ports, LCD digitizers, one television and two bottles of cologne.
Khan pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him and was granted bail to a sum of $150,000 for that offence.
It was also alleged that between November 7 and 8 last year, Khan broke and entered the apartment of Mirnara Singh of Sixth Street, Cummings Lodge and stole one cellphone valued $100,000.
Khan pleaded not guilty to the offence as well and was granted bail to a tune of $60,000 with condition for him to lodge his passport and report to the Turkeyen Police Station on the 15th and the last day of every month.
Police Prosecutor, Worrel Thornhill, had objected to bail, stating that the defendant was a repeat offender who was charged before in other courts. The matter was adjourned until February 19.
