DEAR EDITOR,
It is to my amusement that the chairman of a party, called The Cooperative Republicans of Guyana, has written in the letters section, that the sodomy laws of Guyana is necessary in Guyana to protect children. Editor, this is a common misconception by Christian apologists who seek to impose their “Christian lifestyle” upon the people of a country. Let me empathically state that I wholeheartedly support the removal of such an ancient and outdated law.
Editor, the trouble that the good chairman has, is that of consent. Rape is sexual activity without consent, whether verbally or legally and as we know, children cannot give consent. I hope this clears everything up for the chairman and anyone else thinking this way.
