Dear Editor,
It is with great disappointment that I am addressing a situation that has been occurring for years in the North Sophia Community. It is a situation that I feel nobody really cares about. I have heard many persons within the community voiced complaints about this unpleasant act, yet these folks are all full of ‘talks’.
There are pictures here I wish for the public to see of the atrocious state of a particular area in the community, where persons from the village has made into a dumpsite. Stray dogs and goats would go there digging through all that garbage, making it worse when plastics, dirty diapers and bottles being dragged into the nearby trenches and even some debris left on the road.
Most of the dumping of garbage occurs in the night, however the persons that are dumping during the day, When told not to dump there, verbal threats are being expressed like “I will chop and kill you”, “Mind ya own business”, “This is Guyana”. Now my family has to live in fear because of speaking out about something that every person should have human decency! I am tired of this vile behavior.
I wish that the relevant persons in authority can find a solution to this problem. I hope that shredding some light on this situation will bring some sort of order and end to this.
Yours truly,
A concerned citizen (Name and contact provided)
