Nothing will ever justify these killings and protest actions

DEAR MR. EDITOR,

Words spoken by my political icon, Nelson Mandela, should sink deep in the minds of politicians. He said, “Our world is not divided by race, colour, gender or religion. Our world is divided into wise people and fools. And fools divide themselves by race colour, gender, or religion”.
Those words are abundantly clear in the context of the escalating situation that the nation found itself in at this critical juncture.
While politicians have a duty to support and help their constituents, this must be done in a manner that is consistent with the law. Rhetoric would not help an already volatile situation, it would instead add more fuel to the fire. We all have a duty and responsibility to each other and we must act in a manner that defuses a hostile situation and bring some sort of calmness where the “lives of all matter”.
I am not a fan of Miss Volda Lawrence, but she has said the right words in this very toxic situation. It definitely shows that Lawrence finds solace in her heart to mention those comforting words. I now have a different opinion of her and I must congratulate her and wish her well.
I am positive that the perpetrators of those heinous crimes will be brought to justice and those who have instigated and those who have committed those numerous violations will hang their head in shame.
History will not judge them graciously.
Nelson Mandela continued, “If you wanted to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner”. In his long walk to freedom, he confronts his challenges with dignity and pride. I am confident we will pull through that being better to each other.
My condolences go out to the families and friends and the entire farming and business community of Region Five for the loss of invaluable lives and loved ones, damage to property, assaults and battery which occurred over this dark week in our history. I agree nothing will ever justify these killings and protest actions.
