At a simple presentation ceremony on Friday in the NICIL boardroom, the three NICIL scholarship students accompanied by their parents and siblings presented two awards, among other gifts, to NICIL acting CEO, Colvin Heath-London.
The students Chitra Ramdihall, Pawang Etwaroo and Marissa Siriram presented two plaques expressing their sincere thanks to Heath-London.
The parents of the students said that they all are living under immense and very challenging situations with Siriram’s mother being a single parent, while Ramdihal’s father is unemployed due to the closure of the sugar industry. Etwaroo’s father, who was unemployed, was fortunate to secure a security related job at one of the few functioning sugar estates after working for several years in the sugar industry.
Moreover, the families are especially thankful for the support, which they have received from NICIL.
