The first round of the Caribbean SR3 Radical series revs off today in Barbados at the Bushy Park Motor Sport Inc. (BPMSI) where Guyanese motor racer Raymond Seebarran will make his debut in his ‘Team Fast Parts’ sponsored radical.
In a recent interview with Kaieteur Sport, Seebarran expressed delight with the opportunity and he posited that this is a welcomed challenge since he has basically conquered the local competition.
“I am getting the hang of the car fast, although this is my first time behind the wheel of the radical, and I love it. During my first training at Bushy Park (Barbados) I turned in some decent times with my best time in the mid 59 seconds and during my second outing I continued to improve. I am learning as much as I can and I know I have a far way to go but I am confident that I will get there,” Seebarran noted.
Three former Champions will line up today on what is the largest grid yet to be assembled for an opening round of the Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) with as much as 11 cars racing.
All signs point towards an action-packed start to the regional championship’s third season, as newcomers Zachary Boodram, Tobias Lutke and Seebarran bring to 41; the numbers of drivers who have competed in the Radical SR3s since the launch of the former Suzuki Challenge Series in 2015.
Of the five title-winners on the Cup’s Roll of Honour, reigning RCC Champion; Jamaica’s William Myers is missing from today’s provisional entry list, along with Guyana’s Kristian Jeffrey, who won seven races on his way to winning the 2016 Winter Championship.
The Radical Caribbean Cup will have five rounds this season two each in Barbados and T&T and the final one in Guyana (at the November International Race meet).
Apart from Team Fast Parts, Seebarran has received invaluable support from Fast Parts Limited, Garage 61, Richtune, C.R. Boodoosingh& Sons, Techpoint Tuning, HB4 Tuning, Bhola’s Marketing, Bushy Park Circuit Inc., Ray’s One Stop Auto Parts, Crumbs N’ Cream Café, Clearview Windscreen Repairs, Big Kahuna Hot Dogs and Express Designs.
